CLINICAL SUPERVISION
I offer clinical supervision to psychotherapists and counsellors, from trainees and newly qualified practitioners to more experienced clinicians.
My approach to supervision is primarily psychodynamic and relational, while remaining open to different theoretical perspectives and ways of understanding clinical work. I see supervision as more than a space for case management or finding the “right” intervention. It is an opportunity to think deeply about the therapeutic relationship — including what may be communicated consciously and unconsciously between therapist and client, and what the work evokes in us as practitioners.
THINKING TOGETHER
Clinical work can leave us with uncertainty, curiosity, frustration, anxiety and sometimes a sense of being stuck. Rather than rushing to resolve these experiences, supervision can create space to think about what they might tell us about the client, the therapeutic relationship and ourselves.
I aim to offer a supervisory relationship that is thoughtful, collaborative and appropriately challenging. My intention is to create enough safety for uncertainty, mistakes and difficult feelings to be explored openly, while supporting supervisees to develop confidence in their own clinical judgement and therapeutic identity.
I am particularly interested in questions of difference and identity within both therapy and supervision, including sexuality, gender, neurodiversity, culture and other aspects of social context. I also bring a group-analytic perspective to thinking about the wider systems and relationships within which therapeutic work takes place.
EXPERIENCE & APPROACH
I hold a qualification in clinical supervision from the British Psychotherapy Foundation and have supervised therapists working across private practice and other clinical settings.
My wider clinical experience spans NHS secondary care, NHS psychological therapy services, higher education and independent practice. This allows supervision to draw on experience of both short- and long-term work, complex presentations, institutional contexts and independent practice.
I offer supervision online, either regularly or as supplementary consultation alongside an existing supervisory arrangement.
Please contact me if you would like to discuss working together.
